University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston Virtual Reality Studio

The awarded design team designed the third-floor expansion of a Virtual Reality suite at UTMB-Galveston. The project is part of the UTMB Interprofessional Simulation Center, a state-of-the-art training facility for students, faculty, healthcare professionals, and researchers dedicated to skill acquisition, patient safety, and interprofessional collaboration.

Virtual Reality is a learning component at the center with 3D virtual anatomy dissection tables and Meta technology for virtual patient encounters. The suite features eight XR stations, two 360-rooms, offices, full-sized Holobox, a shared large-scale immersive environment, a debrief room with 25 seats, and storage.

Ellana served as cost estimator on this higher education project. Our estimate included pricing for a holographic 3D theater, acoustic separation panels, non-slip flooring & soft barriers, VisCube LED, projection equipment, and metal mesh ceiling panels.
