Boston University Mugar Library Renovation
Boston, MA
Located at the heart of Boston University’s Charles River Campus, Mugar Memorial Library is BU’s main humanities and social sciences library. It was constructed in the mid-1960s as part of a four-building complex designed by Josep Lluis Sert. For 50 years, only minor improvements have been made to the 200,000 SF facility. Mugar’s seven stories house computing facilities, 2.2 million books, and many other resources.
This total building rehabilitation brings mechanical systems and library services up to modern standards. Ellana prepared cost estimates for this extensive renovation. Our estimates include mechanical system elements, life safety systems, electrical, FF&E, and movable partitions. It is anticipated that sections of the structure will be occupied during construction.
