Science Museum of Virginia East Green

Richmond, VA

The Science Museum of Virginia is a popular destination in Richmond. The iconic building was once the main train station for the Virginia state capital. In the mid-1970s, the structure was adapted to house a new state museum for science. In 2017, the museum acquired an adjacent building known as the Workers Compensation Building, which was demolished to make way for the East Green. This five-acre public space is defined by DMV Drive from Broad Street to the shared parking lot at the corner of Leigh Street and DMV Drive.

Ellana is providing cost estimating services for the transformation of the East Green into a more appealing community green space populated with native Virginia plantings and outdoor art. Our estimate includes pricing for lighting, shade structures, water features, outdoor seating, paving, educational signage, stormwater management systems, concrete, retaining walls, wooden boardwalks, and bike racks.

The East Green is part of a larger community space managed by the museum that offers the opportunity for community connection and deeper engagement with nature.
