Hosmer House Restoration

Sudbury, MA

The Hosmer House was built in 1793 and bequeathed to the Town of Sudbury in 1959. Sudbury Historical Commission manages the 4,130 SF, two-story building plus basement, which is open to the public. A major restoration is underway.

Plans call to remove the entire asphalt roof and replace it with a historically correct cedar shingle roof assembly which will include water barriers, roof insulation, copper flashing, copper drip edge, copper gutters and copper downspouts. The repointing of the chimneys will provide a watertight roofing system.

Additional projects include replacing the deteriorated wooden clapboards and trim, rotten infrastructure; painting wooden clapboards and trim; cleaning and re-pointing brick sidewalls; and restoring the brick patios and walkways.

Ellana prepared a preliminary budget construction cost estimate for architectural and structural cost only.
