New York Row Boathouse
Harlem, NY
Ellana provided cost estimating and value engineering services for the development of a boathouse near the Swindler Cove Public Park in Harlem, NY. The boathouse is designed to be a mainly wood framed construction building of 13,000 GSF with steel and concrete structural elements resting on a pile foundation extending 120 feet in depth. In addition, the project has a LEED goal and to further the ability to achieve this innovative features such as photovoltaics are being incorporated into the design. The docks will be approximately 5,200 SF, of which 1,700 SF is devoted to the gangway, and will require barge driven piles extending 150 feet in depth. There is extensive site work of 33,650 SF involved in this project consisting of landscaping, pavers, irrigation, and utility scope. One particular challenge for site work is the contaminated soils which need to be mitigated prior proceeding with other scope.
