Canarsie Library Modernization
Brooklyn, NY
The existing library opened in 1960 after renovating a grocery store. After 65 years of continuous operation, Canarsie Library will double in size to almost 10,000 SF after a renovation and expansion effort. Ellana served as cost estimator on this project. The building becomes a physical and symbolic beacon of its community—transparent by day, a lantern by night. The renovated library will feature:
Light-filled design that features a beautiful children’s reading area
A flexible community meeting room that can seat up to 4
New maker space full of state-of-the-art technology and a recording studio for patrons
All new heating, cooling and electrical infrastructure, water fountains and improved bathrooms
Our estimate includes pricing for MEP, landscaping, solar panels, flooring, lighting, and finishes.
