NYC DDC Briarwood Library Renovation
Queens, NY
Queens Public Library plays a central role in the civic life of every neighborhood in Queens, offering a forum for the exchange of ideas, the pursuit of intellectual and personal growth, and the joy of lifelong learning. An extensive renovation is planned for the Briarwood neighborhood branch.
To create a more cohesive space, the team designed a completely new façade system and interior gut renovation for the existing one-story, 7,200 SF library building. The library will be LEED Gold certified with sustainability features like photovoltaic panels on the roof to generate electricity.
