Ellana served as cost estimator for the replacement of the plaza paver system, stairs, and retaining walls at the Journal Square Transportation Center. The existing plaza structure, constructed in the early 1970s, no longer provided adequate drainage. The original plaza paver system was incompatible with the updated drainage system, resulting in a comprehensive waterproofing and paver system replacement.

We prepared Order of Magnitude construction cost estimates for all proposed design solutions. Our detailed cost estimates included separate costs for labor, material, and equipment for temporary supports, temporary deck, plating, temporary work platforms, and temporary & permanent modification of existing utilities. Ellana also developed cost estimates at 50%, 100%, and Final Stage 1 document submittals that reflected conditions & precautions, winter suspensions, mobilization, shop drawings, hours of work, and security requirements in addition to recent trends of price escalation.
