MWRTA EV Infrastructure & Solar Canopies Feasibility Study
Framingham, MA
MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA) is developing the infrastructure to support an electric vehicle fleet by generating and storing renewable energy on-site. The Gannett Fleming team studied all aspects of integrating a 10 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery backup system into the design, which will allow for overnight charging of an electrified demand service fleet with solar energy collected during the day.
Gannett Fleming designed concepts for a solar canopy structure that will set a new standard for fleet modernization and electrification. Ellana served as cost estimator and provided ROM estimates for the following:
Three exterior conceptual renderings of solar canopies at 15 Blandin
Three exterior conceptual renderings of battery backup systems at 15 Blandin
Three exterior conceptual renderings of charging infrastructure at 15 Blandin
Three interior conceptual renderings of facility spaces requiring new build or retrofitting to accommodate feasibility recommendations
