Mystic River Pedestrian & Cycle Bridge

Everett, MA

A new bicycle and pedestrian bridge crossing the Mystic River will connect the path networks on the Somerville and Everett sides of the river as well as DCR Draw Seven Park to the Gateway Park trail and the public boardwalk at the Encore Resort. The Mystic River Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge will provide a vital missing link between the communities of Everett and Somerville, linking mixed use paths with local amenities including Draw Seven Park, Assembly Row, and the Lower Broadway District. The bridge will provide a reliable and safe-crossing alternative for cyclists and pedestrians.

Ellana served as cost estimator for this transportation project. Challenges include:

  • Working over a river and partially under an existing highway bridge

  • Use of temporary trestles for bridge construction

  • Main bridge span craned from a barge into place
