MBTA Ruggles Station Upgrades

Boston, MA

Ellana provided cost estimating for a $36.5 million project to build a new 800-foot platform, re-grading of the lower busway, new elevator and elevator replacement and widening of the sidewalk and pedestrian safety. The accessibility project makes the station more ADA compliant.

The newly constructed headhouse at the south end of the platform creates a new, third entrance to the station and serves as a means of egress from the platforms. As part of the renovation, two elevators were installed to connect the new south headhouse lobby to each platform below. A new lobby and pedestrian bridge allows entrance into the south headhouse from the Ruggles Street Bridge. Other work includes a new emergency exit stair located at the north end of the commuter rail platform, a new stair connecting the orange Line to the lobby above, new toilet rooms and various MEP/FP accessibility upgrades.
