Providence City Hall Envelope Restoration
Providence, RI
DBVW Architects led the effort to restore the exterior envelope of Providence City Hall. The historic building was completed in 1878 and designed by Samuel J. F. Thayer in the Second Empire style. The cast iron and masonry structure has been in continuous use for over 150 years with the last major renovation occurring in the 1970s.
Deterioration is evident, with visible rust around the building trim, cracks in the roof, and vegetation growing in sections. Ellana prepared cost estimates for this project which included pricing for roofing, repointing, windows, and architectural element restoration.
