Pier 97 - Hudson River Park

New York, NY

Pier 97 at the Hudson River Park represents the next generation of urban waterfront public space in New York City. Situated at the western end of 57th Street, Pier 97 is a highly visible civic asset that will draw a multitude of user groups year-round. At approximately 3-acres in size, the project boundary includes the recently constructed pier structure and an upland connection that joins the pier landscape with Clinton Cove and Riverside Park South. The concept design stems from many considerations including community sentiments, existing conditions, flood plane and storm water management, traffic flow and vehicle access, seasonality and visual interest, micro-climate, avian habitat, year-round programming, children’s activities, contemplative experiences, and most important - memorability of place.
