Purgatory Chasm is a unique natural landmark located in Sutton, MA. A half-mile long stone wash runs between massive granite walls, the chasm looks as though the rocks split and crumbled during an earthquake, but the natural landmark was formed by a torrent of ancient glacial water. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts manages the area known as Purgatory Chasm State Reservation.
