Staten Island University Hospital Women and Newborn Center
Staten Island, NY
What began as a one-room infirmary more than 150 years ago evolved into a 714-bed teaching hospital that spans two campuses, providing a vast array of services in health and wellness. The new maternity center at Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) provides a seamless birth experience for mothers, babies, and families by locating the maternity unit, labor-and-delivery unit and NICU on a single floor, previously offered in three separate locations at the hospital. Ellana developed cost estimates for this project.
Private labor-and-delivery rooms offer a more comfortable birthing experience. The expansion includes a 20-bassinette NICU, a new labor-and-delivery unit and a postpartum suite. The new Women and Newborn Center increases the number of beds by 10 for a total of 37 — all in private rooms. The project also features a separate entrance dedicated to expecting mothers.
