Brooklyn Cruise Terminal Resiliency

Brooklyn, NY

Opened in April 2006 in the Red Hook neighborhood, the modern Brooklyn Cruise Terminal offers all the services and comforts expected from a world-class cruise facility including flexible terminal space, sophisticated gangways, separate bus stalls, and ample parking. The terminal was the first shore power system for cruise ships installed on the East Coast of the United States and remains the only shore power capable terminal on the East Coast.

Ellana served as cost estimator on the 25,000 SF design project to develop a more resilient coastline from wave action and a more stable berthing/docking location at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Our cost experts provided budgets for a specialized fendering system on for the piles and dock and generated accurate specialty material quotations.

City of Long Branch - Phase 2 Oceanfront Pier and Ferry Terminal Marine

Long Branch, NJ

Ellana provided construction cost estimating for Phase 2 of the Oceanfront Pier and Ferry Terminal Marine project. The Phase 2 contract scope of work requires a holistic integration of all criteria in order to support the City’s selection of a design concept (with a suitably shaped, right-sized pier) and verified program in order to produce a design that achieves the City's objective of effective transit of infrastructure that simultaneously maximizes tenant revenues, attracts visitors, nurtures transit, and reduces capital costs.

Cost Estimating services will be performed during the Preliminary Program, Preliminary Physical Concept Design, Program Concepts, and Physical Concept Design.

FDNY Marine 9 Repair Project

Staten Island, NY

Located on a portion of the former U.S. Navy’s Homeport Pier, Company 9 supports FDNY’s new state-of-the-art fire boat, Firefighter 2, which provides rapid response capabilities for New York Harbor. The project is located within the Stapleton Waterfront, a 35-acre former Navy site undergoing major redevelopment.

Work includes repairs to an existing coated steel wave fence surrounding the pier which has been damaged by weather and marine forces. This assignment remediates the damage for a period of three to five years at which time a new system will be installed.

Ellana served as the cost estimator for this marine project. Our estimate includes pricing for structural steel elements, sheet pile protective coating, and pile bolts.

NYPD Harbor Charlie Dock and Wave Screen Expansion

New York, NY

Ellana provided a feasibility report to determine a cost effective solution and future cost estimating services to accommodate four (4) sixty-two foot and two (2) new seventy foot vessels.

Three different construction options were evaluated based on the requirements that the NYPD conveyed to the design team, to optimize the approach and serviceability of the new and existing docks. The NYPD Harbor Patrol will be acquiring the new vessels and docking them at the current Harbor Charlie Base in Brooklyn. The NYPD Harbor Charlie Base is located in the Brooklyn Army Terminal. The complex was commissioned by the federal government and was built in 1919 where it served as a military depot and supply base during WWI and WWII. New York City purchased the terminal from the Federal Government in 1981. It is currently managed by the New York City Economic Development Corporation.
